A Bit About Me
How long you have been a referee: January 2016
What is it about refereeing that you enjoy: What’s not to enjoy?! I have created friendships with other referees and built a working relationship with players, coaches, and parents
Your favourite memory or story: I attended my first National Championships in Edmonton in 2018. It was my first travel experience as a ref and I met many different referees from across the country as well as referees from the United States. After that tournament, all I look forward to is attending the National Championships to see them all again the following year.
A tough moment you experienced and overcame it: A coach said to me, “You are the worst referee I have ever seen and you should quit”. This was the first tournament that I officiated after my evaluation tournament the weekend prior. I considered quitting after that match but I remembered my positive experience with my evaluators and I connected with them to discuss the match. They provided me with feedback and from then, they became my mentors. And that is how I would like to be for all of you :)
