A Bit About Me
How long you have been a referee: I have been a referee for about 22 years.
What is it about refereeing that you enjoy: The thing I like best about refereeing is the communication and contact with coaches before, and after the matches. (even during, if necessary). I believe this communication provides a level of trust and assurance during the match.
Your favourite memory or story: A favourite story involves a few moments I spent with a team on the ferry from Nanaimo after I had reffed a close match that they had lost in the provincial finals. A parent approached and said I had 'made their day'.
A tough moment you experienced and how you overcame it: Any time I get yelled at by a CIS coach.
I remind myself that I will always make mistakes and mentally try to continue to ref the match impartially
